I suggested to my three sisters that we should choose the K West as our hotel for our much needed spa weekend. I have stayed previously a few years before, and had a great time. Two of my sisters were celebrating significant birthdays, so I decided to surprise them with the additional balloons/prosecco/chocolate option. I was emailed in advance, and our spa treatments were planned ahead of our stay. They even arranged to modify a spa treatment to accommodate for a medical condition that one of my party has. The balloons, box and cards were stunning. It had the wow factor. Incredibly, there was a knock on our door and it was a smiling Marietta who surprised us with a gorgeous Happy Birthday cake from the hotel. The spa treatment (full body exfoliation with back and shoulder massage) was carried out in a dark and cosy treatment room, and it was so relaxing. The massage therapist was highly skilled, and I felt so good afterwards. I looked forward to using the other spa facilities. We first went to the relaxation room, where unfortunately there were some girls who didn't stop talking.
Thet: the buckle or knot of Isis. The thet might represent a stylized uterus with its ligatures and a vagina. It was usually made of a red substance and represents blood and life. Sacred Animals: cow, scorpion and snake. Sacred Birds: dove, hawk, swallow and vulture. Depictions © Don McCrady - Depiction of Isis Depictions of Isis show her as a goddess and a human woman. As a goddess, she wears the vulture headdress. This resembled a bird laying on its stomach on top of Isis' head, with its head over her forehead and wings hanging down on each side of her head. Isis wears a jeweled collar and a floor-length gown. She holds a papyrus scepter and an ankh in her hands and is often portrayed with long wings. Sometimes Isis wears a crown instead of the headdress. One crown has horns surrounding a sun disc. Another crown has the horns of a ram, under the double crown, to associate Isis with Osiris. The depictions showing Isis as a human woman show her wearing plainer clothes but her headdress has an uraeus symbol.
There's a small bar with a simple wine selection. The music can sometimes be a bit loud for light sleepers, especially when combined with the nearby clubs and bars on Yaxchilan. There is also an attached Italian restaurant around the corner serving dinner and wine; it's also open late. There are a variety of office spaces within the hotel building but not all are rented. There are a local tour operator for booking adventure tours within the Riviera Maya, and a salon where nightly salsa classes take place every evening. There are 12 parking spaces for guests who arrive with their own transportation, or rent from the company just out front of the hotel. The parking lot is located on the back side of the property. The hotel's spa offers a sauna and a variety of treatments, including massages and even a traditional Mayan Temazcal ritual. There is an independently operated Pilates room within the hotel with daily classes from a local instructor.
